We Identify Significant Hazards and Try To Eliminate Them

At SAL we recognise that health and safety is paramount in what we do and will be taken into consideration prior to carrying out any activities. We strive to be the best in our field in terms of health and safety providing all of our teams with the appropriate training and employing external consultants to check that our systems are effective in our place of work.

As an employer we accept our responsibility for providing a safe place of work to not only our employees but to others who may also be affected by our works. We identify significant hazards and try to eliminate them by carrying our risk assessments at regular intervals which will be documented and communicated to our employees.

All of our operatives are provided with Personal Protective Equipment and are expected to wear it on all of our projects at all times. We actively promote our health and safety standards with our site managers regularly undertake toolbox talks to communicate key issues to our employees.

SAL Construction currently holds CHAS and Construction Line accreditations and each of our Site Managers holds up to date first aid training. We carry out site specific risk assessments and method statements prior to carrying out any of our works which are communicated and signed off by the workforce.

Dust

With the type of work that we do one of the main risks that we are faced with is the control of dust. In order to manage this risk we set up specific cutting areas on site which are segregated and signed off as cutting areas. All of our operatives have face fit masks and all plant and equipment has Class-H dust extraction provided. We recognise that air born dust from products such as MDF can be hazardous and therefore actively support the ‘bin the broom’ campaign.
