DAB Passive Fire Protection Merges with SAL Group to Form SAL Firestopping

We are delighted to officially announce an exciting new chapter for DAB Passive Fire Protection Specialists Ltd. Following a successful period of growth, DAB has merged with SAL Group to form SAL Firestopping.

The merger brings together the experience and expertise of teams across firestopping, drylining and joinery, creating a stronger, more comprehensive offering for clients across the North West and beyond.

A New Chapter for DAB Passive Fire Protection

The journey to this point has been a significant one.

DAB Passive Fire Protection began with a small team and just a couple of vans. Over the years, the business has grown into a dedicated workforce and established itself as a respected name within the passive fire protection and firestopping industry.

For John Davidson, Director at SAL Firestopping, seeing that growth has been a particularly proud achievement.

The journey has not been without its challenges. Following a change in circumstances in 2022, John took full control of DAB Passive Fire Protection. With the continued support of a loyal workforce, clients and suppliers, the business continued to grow and strengthen over the following three years.

That hard work has now led to the next major step: joining forces with SAL Group.

Combining Expertise Across the Construction Industry

The merger with SAL Group provides an opportunity to bring together complementary areas of expertise under one group.

With established teams working across drylining, joinery and firestopping, SAL Firestopping can help improve coordination between different trades and provide clients with a more joined-up approach to construction and fire safety.

The benefits of this approach are already being seen on projects, where closer collaboration between teams can help address challenges around interfaces, quality and programme coordination.

By bringing these disciplines together, SAL Firestopping is ideally positioned to provide specialist support throughout the construction process.

Comprehensive Firestopping and Passive Fire Protection Services

As part of SAL Firestopping, our team can provide a wide range of specialist fire safety and passive fire protection services, including:

• Fire compartmentation surveys
• Fire door surveys
• Firestopping works
• Fire door installation
• Cavity barriers
• Remedial works
• Fire curtains
• Fire boarding
• Insulated soffits

With 27 years of experience within the industry, the team brings extensive knowledge of passive fire protection and an understanding of how the sector has evolved over the years.

The additional resources, knowledge and support available through SAL Group provide an exciting platform for continued development.

Looking Towards the Future

The formation of SAL Firestopping marks the beginning of an exciting new chapter.

By combining DAB’s specialist firestopping experience with the wider capabilities of SAL Group, we are looking to build on everything achieved so far and continue developing our reputation as a leading provider of passive fire protection services.

Most importantly, we remain committed to the people, clients and suppliers who have supported the business throughout its journey.

The future will also see SAL Firestopping place an even greater emphasis on raising awareness around fire safety, sharing knowledge and providing training opportunities within the industry.

We would like to thank everyone who has been part of the DAB journey so far. Whether you have worked with us, supplied us, trusted us with your projects or simply supported the business, your contribution has helped us reach this point.

DAB Passive Fire Protection is now SAL Firestopping – and we are excited about what comes next.
